Known and Un-Known

Free verse, written 3/27/09

"Ready?" Calls a voice well-known,
Though the face my eyes can't see.
The sky is wet and lined in rain,
But I only know that
Because a half-hidden lamp,
A lonely lamp, can see.

Splash.

"Take my hand!" My own voice cries.
How alive is nature at night!
One aged hand, one trusting hand,
Intertwine as we run
Past a half-hidden lamp,
A forgotten lamp, that sees.

I think poetry is your specialty, EmilyRuth.

Your poems seems to have much more meaning than any others I've read and I'm not just saying that. I think you have a talent that can go far beyond any published book.

I love how it's so mysterious yet honest and slightly adventurous.

girlwtb you have no IDEA how much that means! I hope one day I can publish a book of poetry, though I don't know how that could ever happen.. haha

and priya, it doesn't quite capture all the feelings I was experiencing (isn't it annoying sometimes, how we just can't make words seem to fit?) It was raining, and I was running home from our barn with my mom, and it was raining. We have this light that has a sensor, and it came on just as I stepped outside, and the sky had like.. mini.. lines or something from the rain! It was so wonderful!
I just felt so happy there, with my mom (which is probably weird, I know, we're just really close). And I love rain, so that's a plus. And I love the smell night has, so its an extra plus!

I bet Beth Kephart could put it just right, and maybe I'll be able to one day :) In the meantime, I guess its just practice, practice, practice!

okay, I really didn't mean to say 'it was raining' twice in the same sentence.

ONE of those was supposed to be 'dark'. Because it was dark.
and it was dark.

Thank you, Department of Redundancy Department.

You nut.

I still can't get most things right.

I'm just trying, like all us writers try.

You move people. That's right.
